The Shire in September

On September 11, 2001, the Orcs attacked the Land of the Free in shockingly and profoundly evil ways.

Every year, during the second week of September, TNT (Turner Network Television) airs The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Starting tonight at 7 pm (CST) through Saturday, the Eve of September 11, The Fellowship of the Ring (2001), The Two Towers (2002) and The Return of the King(2003) will air respectively.

Originally, The Fellowship of the Ring was released in December 2001. Interesting timing that can only be God’s. TNT seems to think so. For the last eight years, I have noticed their scheduling pattern. The Lord of the Rings trilogy is always shown around September 11.

I’m on to you, TNT. I get you. We’re living Tolkien’s metaphor. Our lives reflect that journey and our character as we witness a manifestation of darkness that is diabolical, a darkness that takes the human form of extreme hate and insanity.

Jesus conquered the darkness. May we follow His example in our own lives and as a nation.
